Please note that your absentee ballot must be prepared in the same way whether you mail or hand-deliver it. Voters must follow all the instructions, or the absentee ballot will be rejected. Please click here to review the instructions.


The consensus among election officials and the U.S. Postal Service is that ballots mailed from a Bernalillo County location on or before November 3, 2022 will arrive by 7 p.m. on Election Day, November 8, 2022. After November 3, 2022, please hand-deliver your ballot to ensure it arrives on time.


There are several options for hand-delivery of your absentee ballot. Please note that if you hand-deliver your absentee ballot, it still must be completed in accordance with the instructions or it will be rejected. Read more…

September 24, 2022 – Electronic Transmission System (ETS) ballots are sent out to Federal qualified elector (FQE) voters.
October 11, 2022 – County clerk mails out absentee ballots to all who have requested them.
October 22 – November 5, 2022 – Absentee ballots should be dropped off at any of the Early Voting locations.

November 3, 2022– Deadline for Absentee Applications to be received. Applications received after the 2nd will be rejected, even if it is postmarked on the 3rd.
November 4, 2022 – Last day county clerks can mail absentee ballots to voters who request them.
November 8, 2022 – Election Day 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Absentee Ballots are due in the clerk’s office no later than 7 p.m.
