Bernalillo County – Clerk Linda Stover has been recognized with a 2022 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo).
NACo recognized Clerk Stover for her outreach program titled “We’re All in This Together: Voting Through the 2020 Pandemic” in the category of Civic Education and Public Information. In 2020, COVID-19 impacted the lives of every person in our country. It was clear that people felt anxious about getting out to vote in the 2020 elections.
The program provided information about voting procedures, explained what COVID-safe practices were being implemented, corrected misinformation, and ensured voters that they could count on a safe election. The program consisted of Clerk Stover creating and distributing informative Public Service Announcements (PSAs) on the Clerk’s social media platforms throughout the 2020 election cycle.
NACo President Larry Johnson said, “All across the country, counties are working tirelessly to support residents and drive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s Achievement Award-winning programs showcase how counties work every day to build healthy, safe and thriving communities.”
Clerk Stover said, “The pandemic presented severe obstacles jeopardizing our right to vote. With the authority I have as the County Clerk, I removed all the obstacles I could so the Citizens in Bernalillo County could participate in the elections.”
This innovative outreach program proved so valuable that it continues to be a staple in the communication efforts of the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office.
